504 EARLY PUBERTY IN KLINEFELTER SYNDROME DUE TO A CHORIONIC GONADOTROPIN (hCG)-PRODUCING TUMO

Desjardins, Universite de Montreal, Centre de Recherches Pgdiatrique, Hdpital Sainte-J u s t i n e , Department of P e d i a t r i c s , Montreal, Canada.W e have recently reported t h a t d e s p i t e e a r l y treatment, children with congenital hypothyroidism have lower scores in hearingspeech performance s c a l e s and p r a c t i c a l reasonning a t 18 and 36 months of age, using t h e G r i f f i t h developmental t e s t . in o r d e r t o c l a r i f y these observations, we studied somatosensory evoked p o t e n t i a l s (SEP) in these c h i l d r e n . W e undertook both a r e t r ospective and prospective study in hypothyroid children detected by t h e Quebec Screening Program and we report here r e s u l t s of SEP, obtained in 20 t r e a t e d congenitally hypothyroid c h i l d r e n age 5-12 a s compared t o 19 age and sex matched c o n t r o l s .
