5-Tetrazolecarboxamides and their salts: new orally active antiallergy agents

Abstract: 2-(Diethylamino)-6-nitrobenzonitrile (72). To a mixture of 3.82 g (0.02 mol) of 2-(ethylamino)-6-nitrobenzonitrile (73) and 3.2 g (0.02 mol) of ethyl iodide in 100 mL of DMF was added 0.96 g (0.02 mol) of 50% NaH (in oil) in portions. The mildly exothermic reaction was stirred for 10 min, poured into ice-water, and extracted into methylene chloride.
