4D Joint Stratigraphic Inversion of Prestack Seismic Data: Application to the CO2Storage Reservoir (Utsira Sand Formation) at Sleipner Site

Show more

“…It is also a very interesting way to test the effects of different scales of modeled heterogeneity on production (Falivene et al, 2006b) and/or to optimize well placement in the related types of reservoirs (Stright et al, 2014). So our work benefited from previous studies of this outcrop (Arbués et al, 2007;Falivene et al, 2006b;Schmitz et al, 2014) and strongly emphasized the integration of the various fields of expertise involved in this workflow; for instance in Virtual analog (e.g., Schmitz et al, 2014), in Geological modeling (e.g., Gasparrini et al, 2016), in Reservoir simulation & history matching (e.g., Le Ravalec et al, 2012), in 4D seismic inversion (e.g., Labat et al, 2012) and in Rock Physics (e.g., Zinszner, 2012, 2014).…”

“…CO 2 storage at the Utsira sand provides an excellent example of the application of surface seismic methods to CO 2 plume monitoring under favorable circumstances. Several authors (Arts et al, 2004;Clochard et al, 2009;Chadwick et al, 2010;Delépine et al, 2010;Rubino and Velis, 2011;Fornel and Estublier, 2012;Labat et al, 2012) have interpreted pre-stack or poststack seismic volumes of Sleipner field in terms of CO 2 saturation. The analysis and applications of the proposed methods to the real data from Sleipner field are still being carried out to address the non-uniqueness of the modeling technique as well as uncertainties associated with the modeling parameters.…”
