Abstract:Summary. Maxillo-facial injuries and the causative factors vary widely. Aspiration, airway obstruction, and asphyxia are the main dangers. Smaller lesions of the soft tissues and uncomplicated factures can be treated under local or regional anesthesia. More extensive injuries need endotracheal anaesthesia or tracheotomy. The different techniques are discussed. These patients also need careful postoperative supervision to ensure free airways and optimal respiration.
