Abstract:Thanks to their high reactivity 3-substituted 4-chloro-2-oxo-1,2-dihydroquinolines readily react with many nucleophiles and are of interest for the synthesis of very different products. The most convenient method for their preparation is treatment of the corresponding 4-hydroxy derivatives with phosphorus oxychloride or its mixture with phosphorus pentachloride [2,3].
