Abstract:The title molecular salt, C18H21N2+·I−, consists of a pyridinium cation and an I−anion. The cation exists in anE,Econformation with respect to the two C=C double bonds, and is roughly planar with the pyridinium ring being inclined to the benzene ring by 10.8 (2) °. In the crystal, the ions are linked by a C—H...I hydrogen bond, and the cations are linked by C—H...π interactions, forming zigzag chains propagating along [010].
A new organic crystal with a noncentrosymmetric structure is developed, and its structural, thermal, linear and nonlinear optical properties are reported.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
