Abstract: Design of column-supported embankments (CSE) requires the evaluation of global stability using the conventional limit equilibrium method (LEM). Yet, for CSEs using unreinforced concrete columns and load transferring geogrids, the failure mechanisms and corresponding soil-structure interactions are not well understood.
