E-Archeo Project: The 3D Reconstruction of the Roman Villae in Sirmione and Desenzano (Brescia, Italy)

“…Before generating a dynamic 3D mesh and a database that allows users to interact, experiment, and query virtual spaces, a preliminary inspection was conducted at each site to identify specific survey needs. This step made it possible to establish the most appropriate measurement methodology for each reference context, obtaining different datasets for the calculation of point clouds obtained mainly through terrestrial photogrammetry or drones [6]. Without going into detail about individual actions, the survey team was divided to simultaneously operate on the two Roman villas with the aim of completely surveying both archaeological areas.…”

In the study and valorisation of the two villas, the University used technical and scientific skills and expertise that usually remain in the narrow circle of research, whereas, in this case, they have been used for a people-oriented project.…”
