“…It corresponds to an NP volume fraction of 15% in the matrix. Based on these results, the 1D Si 3 N 4 grating template has been impregnated with a sol–gel solution containing a suitable quantity of CoFe 2 O 4 NPs previously crystallized during a co-precipitation process in water . The device is finally submitted to soft thermal annealing at 100 °C, leading to a MO refractive index of 1.69 (see Methods).…”

“…Typically, dialysis of 20 mL of ferrofluid initially concentrated at 1.45 vol% for 24 h with agitation results in a highly viscous ferrofluid with an MNPs concentration of about 10 vol% (corresponding to a concentration of a factor of ~ 7). By introducing dialyzed ferrofluids into a matrix, it has been possible to achieve doping levels of up to 20 vol%, which is comparable to the highest level of MNPs in nanocomposites described in the literature 44 . The advantage of using a dialyzed ferrofluid is to introduce more magnetic nanoparticles without adding more water to the mixture.…”

“…It is made by circular air holes of r = 0.27 µm, arranged in a triangular lattice of period a = 0.75 µm and embedded in SiO 2 /ZrO 2 matrix. The matrix has a permittivity ε = 2.2801 and the magnitude of the o-diagonal elements of ε mo = 0, corresponding to the SiO 2 /ZrO 2 at optical communication wavelength λ 0 = 1550 nm [19,20]. Figure 2, shows the band diagrams of non-magnetic structure of 2D photonic crystal (with ε mo = 0) for TE (blue) and TM (red) modes of the polarization.…”
