3D Graphene‐Based Macrostructures for Water Treatment

Abstract: Recently, 3D graphene‐based macrostructures (3D GBMs) have gained increased attention due to their immense application potential in water treatment. The unique structural features (e.g., large surface area and physically interconnected porous network) as well as fascinating properties (e.g., high electrical conductivity, excellent chemical/thermal stability, ultralightness, and high solar‐to‐thermal conversion efficiency) render 3D GBMs as promising materials for water purification through adsorption, capaciti… Show more

“…These results evidence the presence of oxygen-containing functional groups (i.e., hydroxyl, epoxide, carbonyl, and carboxyl dominant groups [56]) attached to the basal plane or at the edges of the graphene structure [57] even when its surface area begins to recover. This chemical feature is a crucial result from the point of view of the removal of organics pollutants, because three main characteristics are needed in graphene to treat dyes, such as MB: large π interactions, electronegativity, and large specific surface area [7].…”

“…In the field of CDI electrodes, carbon is one of the best choices for the development and manufacture of porous electrodes . Among them, graphene, as a new member of the “carbon family,” has become a research focus in CDI electrodes . Graphene is characterized in that almost all of its surface areas are available.…”

“…15 Among them, graphene, as a new member of the "carbon family," has become a research focus in CDI electrodes. [16][17][18][19][20][21][22] Graphene is characterized in that almost all of its surface areas are available. We note that in addition to the intrinsic properties of graphene, other factors such as graphene electrode thickness, spatial structure, cell structure design, and operational settings also have a significant impact on CDI performance.…”
