Surface settlement of flexible pavement in coastal reason occurs for the movement of heavy vehicle, liquefaction of soil layer during seismic shaking, land sliding etc. In coastal area, surface settlement is higher than other geographical area because several sandy layers present in the coastal reason. Surface settlement disturbs the longevity of flexible pavement in homogeneous sandy layer. Waste coconut fiber (WCF), fly ash, coir etc. are suitable additives for reducing such types of settlement. In the present study, numerical analysis performs PLAXIS 3D and various (5, 10, 15, 20, 25) percentages of WCF mix with the asphalt by weight for reducing surface settlement of flexible pavement. Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion uses in the numerical analysis and liquefaction has not considered in the present study. However, WCF increases elastic modulus of flexible pavement and it reduces settlement of the pavement. Minimum surface settlement occurs at the maximum percentage of WCF and it is 1.68mm. Therefore, mixer of WCF protects the flexible pavement against severe damage.

In the present study, a small piled raft foundation has been simulated numerically through PLAXIS 3-D software. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of governing parameters such as pile length, pile spacing, pile diameter, and number of piles on the settlement and load-bearing behavior of piled raft, so as to achieve the optimum design for small piled raft configurations. An optimized design of a piled raft is defined as a design with allowable center and differential settlements and satisfactory bearing behavior for a given raft geometry and loading. The results indicated that, with increase in pile length, pile spacing, pile diameter, and number of piles, both the center settlement ratio and differential settlement ratio decreased. The load-bearing capacity of piled raft increased with increase in pile length, pile spacing, pile diameter, and number of piles. Furthermore, the percentage load carried by the piles increased as the pile length, pile spacing, pile diameter, and number of piles increased. The bending moment and shear force in corner pile are noted to be more, and they decreased towards the center pile. With increase in pile length, the maximum raft bending moment decreased, whereas the maximum shear force in the raft increased. Further, with increase in pile spacing, pile diameter, and number of piles, the maximum bending moment and maximum shear force in the raft increased. The optimum parameters for the piled raft foundation can be selected efficiently with the consideration of maximum bending moment and maximum shear force while designing the piled raft foundation. Thus, the results of this study can be used as guidelines for achieving optimum design for small piled raft foundation.

ÖZBetonarme yapıların tasarımı sırasında genellikle temel zemini rijit bir ortam olarak dikkate alınarak tabanda kolonların ankastre olduğu kabulü ile yapı-zemin etkileşimi ihmal edilmektedir. Oysaki zemin, üst yapıdan aktarılan yükler altında şekil değiştiren, gerilmelere maruz kalan ve maruz kaldığı etkilere karşı tepki oluşturan bir ortamdır. Bu nedenle zemin etkileri dikkate alınmadan yapılan bir üst yapı tasarımının eksik kalabileceği söylenebilir. Bu çalışmada, yapı-zemin etkileşiminin betonarme yapıların tasarımına etkisi incelenmektedir. Bu amaçla daha önce literatürde incelenmiş olan 8 katlı bir yapı örneği dikkate alınmıştır. Yapının oturduğu zemin, rijit yapı-zemin kabulünün yanında Winkler ve Geliştirilmiş Vlasov Modelleri de kullanılarak modellenmiştir. Sayısal sonuçlar SAP2000 paket programı ile MATLAB'te kodlanan bir yazılımın eş zamanlı kullanılmasıyla elde edilmiştir. Bu sayede SAP2000 paket programına kendi içerisinde var olmayan Geliştirilmiş Vlasov Modeli ile çözüm yapma kabiliyeti kazandırılmıştır. Çözümden elde edilen periyot, taban kesme kuvveti, kolon normal kuvvetleri, kolon eğilme momentleri ve kolonların boyuna donatı oranları her bir zemin modeli için karşılaştırılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonunda yapı-zemin etkileşiminin betonarme yapıların tasarımına etkisinin ihmal edilemeyecek düzeyde olduğu görülmüştür.
