“…Ages were calculated relative to the age of the Nl-25 hornblende (2.65 Ga) using the K decay parameters reported by Steiger and Jäger (1977). Characteristics of the NL-25 hornblende standard and experimental details are given in Bogard et al (1995Bogard et al ( , 2000. Nakhlite ArAr data are reported in Electronic annex EA-2.…”

“…The irradiation constant (J-value) was 0.02111 ± 0.00008, and was determined from multiple irradiated samples of the hornblende age standard, NL-25 (Bogard et al, 1995). Argon was released by stepwise temperature extraction and its isotopic composition measured on a VG-3600 mass spectrometer.…”

“…A 47.6 mg matrix sample of GRA 95209 was irradiated with fast neutrons to convert part of the 39 K to 39 Ar. The irradiation constant (J = 0.02843 ± 0.00005) was determined from samples of the NL-25 hornblende (Bogard et al, 1995) irradiated along with GRA 95209. The J values for three NL-25 samples in each of two parallel irradiation tubes defined linear trends of identical slope, from which the J value for GRA 95209 was deduced from its relative irradiated position.…”
