“…8 This decisional complexity is compounded by the long-term risks with AUS of urethral erosion, device infection, failure, and need for revision, 9,10 with most patients choosing sling when given the option. 11 Published outcomes for male sling remain suboptimal, with up to 25-35% experiencing sling failure, defined as persistent SUI, 12 possibly due to more substantial SUI than initially estimated. The measure of SUI severity most commonly employed is the patient-reported number of pads used per day (PPD), which is inherently subjective and may not always correlate with the gold standard, 24 h pad weight testing, 13 which is often cumbersome for both patient and provider.…”

“…In patients who have received radiation therapy, the success rate decreased to 35% (28,29). More recent multicentre study with intermediate term follow up at 36 months showed 66% of the patients were cured and 23.4% reported improvement (30). Major postoperative complications include transient urinary retention requiring temporary re-catheterization, local wound infection, perineal pain and inner thigh sensory numbness.…”

“…The 2-year and 36-month reports of a multi-center study of the AdVance XP sling showed good and stable effectiveness, with 66% of patients cured (using a strict definition of no pads and 0–5 g in the 24 h pad test) and 23.4% improved at 36 months ( 6 , 33 ). The only unique intraoperative problem reported in this study was difficulty removing the Tyvek liners in a few cases, which resulted in over-tensioning of the AdVance XP sling.…”

“…Patient selection is very important: the AdVance sling is best suited for men with mild to moderate SUI ( 6 ). The AdVance sling has demonstrated safety and efficacy in the treatment of PPI, and can also be used in the treatment of male SUI due to other causes such as after transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and in men with neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) ( 7 - 13 ).…”
