Abstract: IntroductionAltered brain iron metabolism in the face of aging is cited as a significant risk factor for development of Alzheimer's Disease. In order to correlate brain iron pools (total, loosely bound, non-heme) with novel magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) an experimental mouse model with an engineered deletion of iron regulatory protein-2 (IRP-2) was used.
