35.2: Improvement on Fringe Field in VA Mode LCOS Panels

Abstract: VA mode liquid crystal was applied on LCOS panels in order to provide high contrast and fast response time. However, fringe field were usually observed in VA mode LCOS and were deteriorating image quality. This phenomenon becomes more problematic when the pixel pitch decrease in high resolution applications. The present paper will address the phenomenon, provide a measurement on the disclination and discuss the indicators for improvement.
