“…Bucak et al showed that in comparison with control, a 0.5 mM dose of CUR added into bull semen extender led to lower percentage of total abnormality, provided a greater protective effect in the membrane functional integrity and higher levels of the maintenance of total glutathione, while it did not significantly affect the lipid peroxidation and antioxidant potential levels, indicating that antioxidants addition prior to the cryopreservation process might be a recommended strategy to facilitate sperm cryopreservation. Another study has shown that after pretreatment with CUR, sperm movement, vitality, and energy have no significant effects in the frozen semen of the Holshtean bulls, but the ROS content in sperm cytoplasm was significantly reduced, which thus reduced the damage caused by ROS to sperm [ 89 ].
