“…Children with PFT were seven times more likely to experience problems in school if their mother had a low school degree. This is in line with previous studies on patients with paediatric PFT, which found an association between the education of parents and the child's neuropsychological functioning (Kieffer et al, 2019;Laliberté Durish et al, 2021;Palmer et al, 2013). Interestingly, in the current analyses, paternal school degree had a lower impact than the maternal education.…”

“…Although it is well established that the socio‐economic, cultural and familial background impacts the normal development of a child (Hair et al, 2015 ; Noble et al, 2015 ), it is hardly considered in risk factor studies on survivors of paediatric PFTs (Hocking et al, 2011a ; Kieffer et al, 2019 ; Laliberté Durish et al, 2021 ; Schepers et al, 2021 ). Most studies investigating the influence of environmental factors on the long‐term outcome are conducted on inhomogeneous cohorts of patients with any type of childhood tumour (Ach et al, 2013 ; Barrera et al, 2017 ; Schepers et al, 2021 ).…”

“…There has been increasing interest in appreciating the relationship between family environmental factors and child neuropsychological function across medical populations, most notably childhood traumatic brain injury (Durish et al, 2018; Taylor et al, 2002; Wade et al, 2011; Yeates et al, 2010). Pediatric oncology researchers inconsistently consider the role of family environmental factors such as two parent households, parental education and occupation, and familial supports, despite the albeit limited research suggesting a relationship between family function and neuropsychological outcomes (Ach et al, 2013; Kullgren et al, 2003; Laliberté Durish et al, 2021; Quast et al, 2018). In addition, researchers should consider community and systemic factors that impact the child’s environment as well, such as via the Area Deprivation Index (ADI), which considers social determinants of health within the child’s community including education quality, income/employment, neighborhood housing, and household characteristics.…”

“…Sociofamilial data will be carefully reported, as they are important to neuropsychological outcomes [20] (parents’ occupations, highest degree obtained, and number of years of study). Data concerning the disease, initial symptomatology, initial hydrocephalus and tumor location, details of surgical management, radiotherapy and chemotherapy will be collected.…”
