Role of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratios in Peyronie's disease

Abstract: Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) have been associated with multiple entities and several types of cancers. They can be assumed as markers of inflammatory imbalance. The objective of this study is to evaluate the NLR and PLR in Peyronie's disease (PD) and to establish a comparison of its values in the acute and chronic stages. We recruited patients with PD from March 2018 to March 2019. The patients enrolled underwent medical and sexual history as well as a physical ex… Show more

“…Analogously, Garcia Rojo et al, more recently, evaluated the role of NLR and PLR in PD in relation to acute and chronic phases of PD, reporting a statistically significant difference for both ratios in discriminating the phase of the disease. Differently from the previously reported studies [34] the aim of our work was to evaluate the role of inflammatory biomarkers in PD patients versus no PD controls, using patients with stable PD. Currently, no specific blood tests are available for the diagnosis of PD.…”

When this happens, worries and doubts often lead patients to independently search for information on the Internet with every available tool [1,2].…”
