Molecular mechanisms of anticancer activities of polyphyllin VII

Abstract: Cancer is the leading cause of mortality in the world. The major therapies for cancer treatment are chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation therapy. All these therapies expensive, toxic and show resistance. The plant-derived compounds are considered safe, cost-effective and target cancer through different pathways. In these pathways include oxidative stress, mitochondrial dependent and independent, STAT3, NF-kB, MAPKs, cell cycle, and autophagy pathways. One of the new plants derived compounds is Polyphyllin VII … Show more

“…Zhou et al, 2021). Several active compounds of CL such as polyphyllin D, polyphyllin A, polyphyllin I, polyphyllin II, polyphyllin VI (PPVI), and polyphyllin VII were identified (Wang Q. et al, 2018;Pang et al, 2020;Teng et al, 2020;Ahmad et al, 2021;Kwon et al, 2021). Bioactive chemicals from CL for the treatment of inflammatory pain and the underlying mechanisms were not fully elucidated.…”

“…Saponins extracted from this herb have been demonstrated to be the bioactive compounds responsible for its anticancer activities (Zhou et al, 2021). Polyphyllin VII, one of the most abundant saponins from P. polyphylla , has been proved to exert anticancer activities in a wide variety of human cancer cell lines (Ahmad et al, 2021). It exerts anticancer activities by the suppression of proliferation, cell cycle arrest, and modulation of drugs (He et al, 2016; Lin et al, 2015; Zhang, Jia, Bao, et al, 2016; Zhang, Jia, Wang, et al, 2016).…”
