Abstract:A novel liquid crystal material named polymer‐stabilized sphere phase liquid crystal(SPLC) is produced. A low concentration polymer template is applied to improve the thermal stability of SPLCs and broadens the temperature range to more than 80 K. The electro‐optical switching time is demonstrated in sub‐millisecond and the electro‐optical properties was shown with a diffraction approach, called extended anomalous diffraction approach. Good agreement between experiment and model is obtained.
