The performance of available models for the prediction of postnatal circulation in cases with pulmonary atresia/critical stenosis with intact ventricular septum is heterogeneous. Multiparametric models for predicting univentricular (UV) or non-biventricular circulation perform well in identifying patients with biventricular outcome but have low sensitivity for UV outcome.
What are the clinical implications of this work?Large prospective studies are needed to standardize prognostic criteria and improve the detection of fetuses at risk of UV circulation, which constitute the group that is most likely to benefit from prenatal intervention.
