3265 Sliding wear characteristics of single crystal diamond against optical glass

Abstract: We investigate the wear characteristics of single crystal diamonds by experimentation of wear between single crystal diamonds and optical glass (BK7). This study's purpose is to examine the cause of diamond tool wear that occurs during glass cutting. The wear volume of diamond increases with the normal load and friction velocity.
