30.2: Invited Paper: High‐Performance 55‐inch Diagonal WXGA PDP with Extended ALIS Technology

Abstract

We have developed a high performance 55‐inch diagonal WXGA PDP module with a novel structure of Extended ALIS (Alternate Lighting of Surfaces) technology. The new cell structure using a common bus electrode concept was invented with a new driving scheme aiming at progressive lighting. A motion adaptive data processing method was also developed to suppress motion artifacts such as color contour or hatching degradation. The newly developed 55‐inch WXGA panel has 1,000 cd/m2 peak luminance and 160 cd/m2 full screen white luminance with 9,000 K color temperature at 350W display power consumption.
