3‐(Pyridin‐2‐yl)imidazo[1,5‐a]pyridine (Pyridylindolizine) as Ligand in Complexes of Transition and Main‐Group Metals

Abstract: Keywords: Chelate complexes / N ligands / Ligand effects / Ligand design / D-block metalsThe coordination of the easily prepared 3-(pyridin-2-yl)imidazo[1,5-a]pyridine (pyridylindolizine, Py-indz) ligand to several metal moieties was studied, and its electronic properties, similar to those of the classical ligands 2,2Ј-bipyridine (bipy) and 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), are reported. The new complexes were prepared and fully characterized by Xray crystallography and other typical spectroscopic methods if possibl… Show more

“…Stretching energies did not significantly vary within the series, in agreement with X‐ray data. The already‐published XRD structures [14a,d,f] offer the possibility to analyze bond lengths and angles at solid state for 1 , 2 and 3 (Tables S2 and S3). The three molybdenum complexes exhibit a pseudo‐octahedral geometry centered on the metal atom, with two axial and two equatorial carbonyl ligands.…”

“…Complex 4 has the peculiarity of being one of the stable imidazo [1,5a]pyridine complexes formed by the Cu(II) ion. [75][76][77][78][79][80][81] The stability of Cu(II) may be related to the presence of dicyanoaurate in the first coordination sphere. Compound Cu(L4)[(μ-CN)Au(CN)]} ∞ •CH 3 CN 5 has Cu(I) cations with a tetrahedral environment of L4.…”
