According to World Health Organisation (WHO), cancer is the second most common cause of death globally. It is estimated that there are about 9.6 million deaths and 18.1 million new cases annually. 1-2 More than 90% of pharmacophoric moieties are reported to have one or more heteroatoms like oxygen, sulphur, nitrogen, and the halogens in their structure. 3 Heterocyclic compounds are of great significance to the medicinal chemists owing to their numerous biological activities. A great deal of heterocyclic compounds with significant biological activity have been developed by researchers. 4 Despite the millions of heterocyclic compounds that have been developed, researchers are still working on developing both natural and synthetic compounds with heterocyclic nucleus, which have potent pharmacological activity. 5
