“…[50][51][52][53] In general, LDH materials have proven to be very efficient for the electrochemical and photochemical OER, and such materials have been extensively reviewed elsewhere. [38,[54][55][56] Similarly, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDC), such as MoS 2 , have been proposed as good alternatives as electrocatalysts for the OER. Having a general formula MX 2 , with M being a transition metal and the chalcogenide X = S, Se or Te, these materials feature transition metal sandwiched between two chalcogenide layers (see Figure 4b).…”

“…Their properties have been extensively reviewed for the OER elsewhere. [56][57][58] Li-rich cathode materials have become widely researched and commercially employed for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs). [59] However, gas evolution, i. e. O 2 , CO 2 , H 2 and ethylene, during the operation of LIBs at high voltages, is one of their most significant failure mechanisms.…”

“…The M atoms are sandwiched between two chalcogen atoms, with covalent bonding between the M and X atoms, to give stacked layers that are held by weak van der Waals forces. MoS 2 is a well-known member of this family, finding a wide range of applications. , Indeed, carbon-based materials have been combined with MoS 2 . Tungsten disulfide, WS 2 , although less well-known, has been employed in the development of electrochemical-based sensors, indicating that it is suitably conducting for sensing applications.…”
