Defining Staged Procedures for Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Trials

Abstract: Patients in coronary intervention trials may require more than 1 procedure to complete the intended revascularization strategy. However, these staged interventions are not consistently defined. Standardized definitions are needed to allow meaningful comparisons of this outcome among trials. This document provides guidance on relevant parameters involving staged procedures, including minimum data collection and consistent classification of coronary procedures initially identified as staged; the aim is to achiev… Show more

“…If the treatment of multi-vessel disease requires a staged procedure, planned staged procedures are recommended to be completed within forty-five (45) days. 21 Antithrombotic therapy and concomitant cardiac medication are administered according to the current routine practice guidelines. 5 vFFR computation vFFR (CAAS Workstation 8.5, Pie Medical Imaging, Maastricht, the Netherlands) is computed using 2 angiographic views, recorded after the administration of intracoronary nitrates, with at least 30 °difference in rotation/angulation to generate the 3D reconstruction of the coronar y arter y ( Figure 2 ).…”
