Aerosol processing: a wind of innovation in the field of advanced heterogeneous catalysts

Abstract: Aerosol processing is long known and implemented industrially to obtain various types of divided materials and nanomaterials. The atomisation of a liquid solution or suspension produces a mist of aerosol droplets which can then be transformed via a diversity of processes including spray-drying, spray pyrolysis, flame spray pyrolysis, thermal decomposition, micronisation, gas atomisation, etc. The attractive technical features of these aerosol processes make them highly interesting for the continuous, large sca… Show more

“…[28] The details are shown in the Experimental Section. According to the thermal decomposition temperature of Cu(NO 3 ) 2 ·3H 2 O ( % 250 8C) and Ce(NO 3 ) 3 ·6H 2 O(% 300 8C) in air, [32] the preparation can be under milder conditions (600 8C, in air) than flame spray pyrolysis and other similarprocesses summarized by Sanchez et al [33,34] In addition, the mild conditions mean there is significantly less decomposition of F127 so that EISA of F127 can remain intact and acts as the pore template for mesoporous products. Herein, the solid solution proportion was controlledb yr egulating the Cu/Ce ratio in the mother solution.…”

“…Due to very short diffusion length and large pore size, mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs) attracts much more research interests in the elds of nanocatalysis and drug delivery. [9][10][11][12][13][14][15] The sol-gel so-templating synthesis of MSNs is the best and easiest method and was rst reported by the groups of Cai, 16 Mann 17 and Ostan. 18 Then the term MSNs was popularized by Victor Lin to represent mesoporous silica nanospheres.…”
