“…Final disposal of effluents from treated and untreated wastewater contains toxic metals from different industries, as well the indiscriminate use of fertilizers and pesticides, which contain heavy metals, can contaminate the quality of the water (Ammann, 2002;Gowd & Govil, 2008;Islam, Han, Ahmed, & Masunaga, 2014;Jarvie, Whitton, & Neal, 1998;Jonnalagadda, Mathuthua, Odipo, & Wandiga, 1991;Jonnalagadda & Mhere, 2001;Kar, Sur, Mandai, Saha, & Kole, 2008;Lantzy & Mackenzie, 1979;Mathuthu, Zaranyika, & Jonnalagadda, 1993;Nriagu, 1979;Simeonov et al, 2003;Srebotnjak, Carr, de Sherbinin, & Rickwood, 2012;Su et al, 2013). Within the Pampean Plain, numerous basins are affected by the discharge of industrial effluents, modifying not only the quality of water but also that of the sediments in the riverbed where metals tend to accumulate (Biruk et al, 2017;Cantera, Scasso, Tufo, Villalba, & dos Santos Afonso, 2018;Castro, Rendina, & Orgeira, 2018;Magdaleno, de Cabo, Arreghini, & Salinas, 2014;Mendoza, García, de Cabo, Weigandt, & de Iorio, 2015;Rendina, Bargiela, Cabo, Arreghini, & Iorio, 2001). The Samboromb on River basin comprises a mainly agricultural-livestock region where populated centers and some industries such as battery factory, tannery or car assembly factories, among others are located only in the headwaters sector.…”
