Correction for Ansari et al., “Constitutive Interferon-Inducible Protein 16-Inflammasome Activation during Epstein-Barr Virus Latency I, II, and III in B and Epithelial Cells”

Abstract: The following should be inserted before "(A)": "Lanes 1 and 3 belong to the same experiment and same blot." Page 8610, Fig. 2D: Due to an error during figure assembly, Nuclear Tubulin lanes (lanes 3 and 4) were inadvertent duplicates of Cyto TBP lanes (lanes 1 and 2). The Nuclear Tubulin lanes in Fig. 2D should appear as shown below. Page 8614, Fig. 5B: Due to an error during figure assembly, NLRP3 and AIM2 lanes (lanes 1 and 2) were inadvertent duplicates of the NLRP3 and AIM2 lanes (lanes 1 and 2) in Fig. 3B… Show more

“…Interestingly, while IFI16 and MNDA are predominantly nuclear, accumulation of these proteins in the cytosol has been detected in different cell types under certain conditions ( (31, 43, 90) and below). For instance, IFI16 has been detected in the cytoplasm of U2OS (91) and HeLa (92) cells, in UVB exposed keratinocytes (93), and in fibroblasts and endothelial cells upon infection with human herpesviruses, such as the Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), the Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), and the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) (54,(94)(95)(96)(97). Once viral genomes are detected by IFI16 in the host cells, this PYHIN factor associates with the histone acetyltransferase p300, leading to the acetylation of several lysine residues within the IFI16 bipartite NLS (94, 98).…”
