Efficacy of β-mannanase on broiler growth performance and energy utilization in the presence of increasing dietary galactomannan

Abstract: An experiment was conducted to investigate the impact of β-mannanase inclusion on growth performance, viscosity, and energy utilization in broilers fed diets varying in galactomannan (GM) concentrations. Treatments were arranged as a 3 (GM concentration) × 3 (β-mannanase inclusion) factorial randomized complete block design with 12 replicates of 29 male broilers per replicate for a 42-d experiment. Efforts were made to reduce the amount of soybean meal, and thus GM, in the basal diet with guar gum included at … Show more

“…The observation by Ryu et al (2017) in laying hens indicated that b-mannanase increased mannose digestibility either in high mannan or in low mannan diets. Similarly, Latham et al (2018) reported that the supplementation of b-mannanase to the male broiler chickens ration led to an increase in ileal digestible energy regardless of the mannan levels in the diet. Our results concur with data reported by Cowieson and Ravindran (2008), who observed an increase in energy utilisation and permeability of cell wall in a corn-based diet when targeting NSP bonds by the addition of exogenous enzymes in to the broiler chickens diet.…”

“…Endo-1,4-b-mannanase (EC 3.2.1.78) could randomly cleave b-1,4-glycosidic bonds in polymannose fibres to environmentally friendly, energy-saving and state-of-theart method for MOSs preparation. Moreover, mannanase, with its capacity to hydrolyse mannan-type polysaccharides, could be widely used in many fields, such as food and feed processing, paper making, textile printing, oil drilling and biological bleaching, in which the mannantype polysaccharides need to be removed or degraded (Dhawan and Kaur 2007;Chauhan et al 2012;Latham et al 2018).…”

“…Beta-mannanase supplementation overcame harm effects of guar meal (Mohayayee and Karimi, 2012), possesses ability to hydrolyze galactomannan, reduce intestinal viscosity (Lee et al, 2003a), enhance growth, and improve feed conversion (Gharaei et al 2012). Benefit of βmannanase dependent on concentration of guar meal in diet (Latham et al 2017). The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of using different guar meal levels with or without β-mannanase supplementation to layer diets on productive performance, egg quality and organs weight percent of Golden Montazah layers.…”
