Abstract:A new trapezoid fringe field switching (T-FFS) LCD is proposed.Simulation results indicate that the T-FFS mode exhibits a high transmittance, wide viewing angle, and low operation voltage, regardless a positive or a negative dielectric anisotropy liquid crystal material is employed. With optimized compensation films, the 100:1 contrast ratio exceeds the ±85° viewing cone.
