“…Opioids and antidepressants were found to be significantly associated with risk of dental intervention in the non‐dementia cohort only. Opioids (e.g., oxycodone and morphine) have been reported to induce dry mouth and dental caries (de Campaigno et al., 2017). Caries development may also be induced through hyperglycemia and alterations to salivary pH (de Campaigno et al., 2017).…”

Caries development may also be induced through hyperglycemia and alterations to salivary pH (de Campaigno et al., 2017). Opioid use may also mask pain associated with oral disease or indicate poor overall health associated with chronic pain (Domenichiello & Ramsden, 2019), both of which may increase need for dental intervention.…”

“…W 2014 roku w Niemczech opisano przypadek ostrego obustronnego zapalenia ślinianki przyusznej, będącego efektem wtargnięcia drobnoustrojów do przewodu Stenona w następstwie hiposaliwacji wywołanej terapią wenlafaksyną [22]. Podobne skutki wiąże się z przyjmowaniem niektórych leków przeciwpsychotycznych (neuroleptycznych): klomipraminy i fenotiazyny oraz TCA: amitryptyliny [22,23] i trimipraminy [22].…”
