“…Intraperitoneal local anaesthetic use has been gaining recent interest with two recent systematic reviews published within the last year demonstrating positive analgesic effects in laparoscopic cholecystectomy, gynaecological and gastric surgeries . Our study has confirmed the early analgesic effects of intraperitoneal local ropivacaine in laparoscopic appendicectomy in an Australian population during the first 6‐h post operation.…”

“…The exact aetiology of pain after laparoscopic surgery is still unclear, but it does appear to be multifactorial; causes include abdominal wall trauma from trocar insertion, diaphragmatic irritation by insufflated gas and chemical or blood irritation of the peritoneum . The peritoneum is a continuous sheet of mesothelial cells that is richly innervated on both the parietal and visceral surfaces, which may have an important role in the direct analgesic effect by local anaesthetics . Some studies have demonstrated that after a bolus of intraperitoneal local anaesthetic administration, local anaesthetic levels can be detected in the systemic system within 2–4 min, with rapid absorption.…”

“…A administração de anestesia local oferece vários benefícios ao sistema de saúde, incluindo maior satisfação do paciente, alta hospitalar precoce e redução na admissão hospitalar não planejada [2][3][4][5] . Por isso, a pergunta de pesquisa desse trabalho é "quais são os elementos essenciais para a realização de anestesia local consciente por um profissional da área da saúde?".…”

“…These drugs are inexpensive, not scheduled, and are readily available world-wide. Intraperitoneal (IP) administration of local anaesthetics reduces early postoperative analgesic requirements, time to first-intervention analgesia and pain scores after abdominal surgery in humans; it is currently recommended for laparoscopic surgery as an adjuvant analgesic technique (Boddy et al 2006, Kahokehr et al 2011, Hamill et al 2017. Based on these results in the human literature, the WSAVA-GPC (Monteiro et al 2019) guidelines recommended IP and incisional analgesia for the management of pain, particularly as adjuvant techniques for pain relief in dogs and cats undergoing abdominal surgery (Mathews et al 2014).…”
