“…Furthermore, as the motion-compensated HD-PROST reconstruction approach provides non-rigid respiratory motion fields, the method could be extended to 3 T hybrid positron emission tomography (PET)-CMR systems for simultaneous motion-corrected cardiac PET-CMR imaging. Such an approach would be of interest for producing co-registered truly simultaneous images of myocardial inflammation by 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose-PET and myocardial viability by 3D LGE-CMR imaging, aiding the interpretation of findings from both imaging modalities and potentially improving the diagnosis of conditions such as myocarditis and cardiac sarcoidosis [47][48][49][50].…”

“…direct interrogation of infiltrating immune cells on a subcellular level 7 . Consequently, the combination of PET and MRI could provide incremental information about myocardial injury and inflammatory activity: in a small cohort of ten patients, simultaneous PET/MRI using 18 F-FDG was feasible to diagnose both cardiac sarcoidosis and myocarditis 36 . Thus, such an imaging approach could also potentially be applied in the herein presented experimental setting.…”

“…It is also encouraging that a relevant multimodality imaging approach is under investigation for these two disease entities, especially PET-magnetic resonance (MR) [80,90,91]. Excellent morphological evidence and tissue characterization are expected to have a synergistic effect with PET.…”
