Phytochemical components, total phenol and mineral contents and antioxidant activity of six major medicinal plants from Rayen, Iran

Abstract: The aim of this work was to evaluate the phytochemical components, minerals, the antioxidant activity and total phenol contents of the essential oil from aerial parts of six major medicinal plants in Rayen, Iran. The plants included Ranunculus arvensis, Teucrium polium, Dracocephalum polychaetum, Kelussia odoratissima, Artemisia sieberi and Thymus kotschyanus. Total phenol content ranged from 0.03 to 0.158 mg/mL. A. sieberi showed the highest radical scavenging ability (IC = 94 μg/mL). The amount of minerals r… Show more

“…Mountain Celery is a plant from the apiaceae family and its phenolic and antioxidant compounds of this plant [17] have been studied by several studies like celery. Although the phytochemical content of K. odoratissima hydroalcoholic extract is not determined yet, studied on its essential oil sowed 27 main components, which represent 99.3% of the total essential oils, the main constituent of the essential oil were phthalides including 3-butylidene-4,5-dihydrophthalide (z-Ligustilide) (85.9%), cis-3butylidene phthalide (0.4%) and 3N butyl phthalide (0.3%) [18] with excellent antioxidant activity [19].…”

“…Based on the cluster analysis there was a moderate diversity among the four studied onion genotypes. These variation is due to genetic factors among the samples (Ebrahimi et al 2012;Farajpour et al 2017;Boroomand et al 2018;Hassanabadi et al 2019). Among the parameters, DM and POD activity had the highest positive correlation coefficient with each other (r= 0.76; P<0.01; Figure 5).…”

“…About 56% of the total variance among the genotypes was confirmed by the first PC. The genotypes were cultivated in the same condition, so the main variation among them could be due to genetic factors (Boroomand et al, 2018;Farajpour et al, 2017). The second and third components confirmed 24 and 17% of the total variance among the genotypes, respectively.…”
