Objective: The concept of overlapping neural networks supporting both speech production and fine motor praxis is well accepted; however, few studies have explored the lateralized behavioral characteristics of both functions when performed simultaneously. Method: This study probes the characteristics of the dominant hemisphere by overloading cognitive processing via a novel dual-task paradigm. In 2 experiments, participants performed sets of motor and speech tasks under single-task and dual-task conditions. The sets of tasks differed as to the extent to which they relied on sequential processing, and we hypothesized that tasks more reliant on this type of processing would suffer a greater performance decrement under dual-task conditions. A reliable measure of hemispheric language dominance was obtained via functional transcranial Doppler (fTCD) ultrasound. Results: Speech production scores in the experimental set (i.e., sequential processing) were consistently impaired under dual-task conditions, a distinction that was not seen in the control set. Results of Experiment 2 confirm those of Experiment 1, whereby speech scores were most strongly impaired under dual-task conditions, especially in the experimental set. Motor performance suffered less than speech performance in dual-task conditions in both the experimental and control sets across both experiments. Conclusion: Data suggest that the common processing capacity for speech and fine motor praxis can be disrupted through a dual-task paradigm. This novel behavioral data supports theories of a motor-based gestural origin for language and indicates that speech production is more sensitive to the effects of increased processing requirements than are motor skills.

В работе делается попытка оценить соотношение устойчивых потенциалов лобной области правого и левого полушарий у детей 4-7 лет с общим недоразвитием речи (ОНР) и задержкой психического развития церебрально-органического генеза (ЗПР). В обследовании приняли участие 30 детей (20 мальчиков и 10 девочек) в возрасте от 4 до 7 лет (5,5 ± 1,1 лет). 15 детей имели диагноз ОНР 2-го или 3-го уровня речевого развития, 15 детей -оба диагноза ОНР и ЗПР церебрально-органического генеза. Все дети для уточнения диагноза были обследованы неврологом и логопедом. В соответствии с данными неврологического обследования определяли наличие изменений на стволовом, пирамидном и экстрапирамидном уровнях. Логопед устанавливал уровни ОНР, обусловленные преимущественным нарушением корковых механизмов. Оценивали динамику устойчивого потенциала (УП) мозга в симметричных отведениях левого и правого полушарий, соответствующих проекции поля F9 по Бродману с помощью миниатюрных жидкостных неполяризующихся хлорсеребряных электродов. Для анализа согласованности значений УП левого и правого полушарий головного мозга был использован метод, стандартизированный для данных целей (метод Блэнда -Алтмана). У детей с ОНР 2-го и 3-го уровней в покое по показателям УП отмечается более высокий уровень согласованности активности лобных зон правого и левого полушарий по сравнению с детьми с ОНР и ЗПР, а сдвиг функционального состояния влечет за собой снижение уровня этой согласованности. У детей с сочетанием ОНР и ЗПР нет изменений в уровне согласованности активности полушарий при переходе из одного функционального состояния в другое. У детей с сочетанием ОНР и ЗПР выявлена более высокая активность правого полушария по сравнению с детьми только с ОНР 2-го и 3-го уровней речевого развития.Ключевые слова: устойчивый потенциал, префронтальные отделы коры головного мозга, взаимодействие полушарий, дети, общее недоразвитие речи, задержка психического развития.
