Abstract: Dicrocoelium dentriticum, a member of trematode type helminths, is a liver parasite of ruminants. Humans are infected accidentally by ingestion of intermediate host, through infected ants via eating of raw vegetables or drinking of contaminated water. Infection is often asymptomatic or results in subtle symptoms; therefore, infections are usually unrecognized. However, it can produce chronic cholangitis and swelling or adenomatous proliferation in the bile ducts and lead to abdominal pain, diarrhea, fatigue, j… Show more

“…dentriticum a trematode commonly found in the liver of ruminants, were found in one dog. While in some cases this parasite can infect other mammals, including dogs and humans [31, 32], it is plausible that pseudoparasitism is the cause of this finding [33].…”

“…Adults are typically found in the bile ducts and gallbladders of Amniota ( Pojmańska, 2008 ). Some species are economically important parasites ( Otranto and Traversa, 2003 ; Scala et al, 2019 ; de Sousa et al, 2021 ) and causative agents of zoonoses ( Azmoudeh-Ardalan et al, 2017 ; Atas, 2020 ; Lavilla-Salgado et al, 2021 ). The systematics of Dicrocoeliidae are controversial.…”
