Complexes of nitric oxide with hemoglobin and paramagnetic metalloenzymes in the brain and blood of mammals after intermittent hypoxia

Abstract: The production of NO in the brain, compared with that in the blood, was significantly reduced, not only under physiological conditions, but also after the administration of moderate doses of NaNO2. In the short-term hypobaric hypoxia, there was the intensification of the processes of the reduction of NO2- to NO and the formation of nitrosyl heme-NO complexes not only in the blood but also in the mammalian brain.
