Trim27 interacts with Slx2, is associated with meiotic processes during spermatogenesis

Abstract: ABSTARCT Formation of the XY body is believed to prevent recombination between X and Y chromosomes during meiosis. We recently demonstrated that SYCP3-like X-linked 2 (Slx2) could be involved in synaptonemal complex formation as well as XY body maintenance during meiosis. In order to further investigate the role and composition of XY body protein complexes in meiotic processes and spermatogenesis, a yeast 2-hybrid screening was performed, and the tripartite motif protein 27(Trim27) was found to interact with S… Show more

“…Tripartite motif‐containing (TRIM) proteins belong to the tripartite motif family and contain one coiled‐coil region and three zinc‐binding domains including one RING, one B‐box type 1, and one B‐box type 2 domains. Previous studies have shown that TRIM family proteins play important roles in transcriptional control, viral suppression, energy metabolism, development and cellular differentiation, immune response, proliferation, cancer and genome stability, etc Results from others and our group have shown that tripartite motif‐containing 28 (TRIM28) mediates the differentiation of murine embryonic stem cells into cardiomyocytes, angiogenesis, and endothelial inflammatory response . Tripartite motif‐containing 27 (TRIM27) is involved in cell proliferation and transcriptional repression .…”

“…TALDO1 plays a role in maintaining structure and function of mitochondria, and knockout mice show sperm dysmotility and infertility (59). TRIM27 plays a role in germ cell proliferation in the testes (60). NFATC1 has high expression in undifferentiated spermatogonia (61), NMNAT3 has high expression in spermatocyte and spermatids (62), PIAS2 has prominent expression in round spermatids (63), SRPK2 has high testicular expression (64), WDR36 is expressed in spermatocytes and spermatids and is affected by heat stress (65), and WWP2 is expressed in testis and cancer cells (66).…”

“…Gametogenesis is highly organized and involves the expression and interaction of numerous genes ( 28 , 31 , 33 ); however, mammalian gametogenesis remains to be elucidated at the molecular level. The targeting of candidate genes with proposed roles in gametogenesis has provided valuable information ( 29 , 32 ). For example, many genes involved in spermatogenesis in mice are X-linked ( 31 , 33 , 34 ) and are expressed exclusively in males.…”
