Association between JAK1 gene polymorphisms and susceptibility to allergic rhinitis

Abstract: Objectives: Allergic rhinitis (AR) is an inflammatory disorder of the upper airway. Janus kinase 1 (JAK1), a member of JAK family, has recently been found to participate in the immune response and the development of allergic airway disease. This study was performed to evaluate the potential association of JAK1 polymorphisms with AR in a Chinese Han population. Methods:A case-control study was performed in 450 Chinese AR patients and 615 healthy controls. Three SNPs in the JAK1 gene, rs3790532, rs310241 and rs2… Show more

“…JAK1 and JAK3 play crucial roles in the initiation of inflammatory responses [14]. Studies have reported that the JAK-STAT pathway in asthma [15] and in allergic rhinitis [16]. It is known that allergic diseases are predominantly characterized by elevated levels of IL-4, IL-5, IL-13 and IL-31.…”

“…The JAK-STAT pathway transmits growth factors and cytokines, which are essential in autoimmune disorders and inflammation [27]. JAK1 appears to be one of these kinases that is particularly important in pruritic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, asthma, and inflammatory bowel disease [28][29][30][31]. Small-molecule JAKis have demonstrated efficacy in treating the aforementioned disorders [30,32,33].…”
