Проблема и цель. Ухудшение здоровья школьников, регистрируемое в современных условиях в Республике Казахстан, диктует необходимость внедрения постоянного мониторинга здоровья подрастающего поколения, проживающего в разных климато-географических и экологических условиях. Однако показатели морфофункционального развития учащихся из северных и южных областей Казахстана, которые необходимы для составления актуальных нормативных таблиц, в настоящее время отсутствуют. В этой связи была поставлена цельсравнительное исследование морфофункционального развития организма обучающихся, проживающих в северном и южном регионах Казахстана как основы для последующего мониторинга здоровья школьников в динамике обучения. Методология. Было обследовано 480 школьников казахской национальности 12-17-летнего возраста обоего пола (240 девочек и 240 мальчиков) северного региона (на примере средней школы № 22 г. Павлодара) и южного региона (на примере средней школы № 7 г. Кызылорда). Использованы стандартные общепринятые методы определения морфологических показателей физического развития и функциональных показателей кардиореспираторной системы в Исследование выполнено в рамках государственного научного гранта Министерства образования и науки Республики Казахстан по приоритету «Науки о жизни и здоровье», по теме: «Многоцентровое исследование здоровья участников образовательного процесса с использованием инновационных технологий» Мукатаева Жанат Макановнадоктор биологических наук, профессор кафедры общей биологии и геномики, факультет естественных наук, Евразийский национальный университет им. The body mass index (BMI) trends in the South Pacific Island Countries (PICs) have been analysed. Five South Pacific countries, namely; Fiji, Tonga, Nauru, Kiribati and Solomon Islands have been analysed based on the population that have stayed in Fiji at some point (mean age 25.20±5.27). Standard BMI threshold defined as underweight (2), normal weight (18.5–24.9 kg/m2) overweight (25–30 kg/m2) and obese (≥30 kg/m2) was used to study the BMI trends. The data collection was carried out by randomly selecting the subject of study and manually recording their heights (in meters) and weight (in kg). These measurements were done during the period of 2014–2015. The data showed that only Fiji had an average BMI with normal weight of 23.74±4.63 kg/m2 while other countries’ population were either overweight (Solomon Islands) or obese (Nauru) in the range of 25.29±4.37 kg/m2 to 37.24±12 kg/m2. Cohen’s d and eta square test were performed to see differences in height and weight where large differences were found primarily in the male population compared to female. Obesity became a serious public health problem with enormous socioeconomic implications among the Egyptian population. The present investigation aimed to explore the efficacy of Zingiber officinale extract as a hypolipidemic agent combined with the commercially well‐known anti‐obesity drug simvastatin in obese rats. Thirty‐five male Wister rats were randomly divided into five groups as follows: group I received a standard balanced diet for ten weeks; high‐fat diet was orally administered to rats in groups II–V for ten weeks. From the fifth week to the tenth week, group III orally received simvastatin (40 mg/kg B.W.), group IV orally received Z. officinale root extract (400 mg/kg B.W.), and group V orally received simvastatin (20 mg/kg B.W.) plus Z. officinale extract (200 mg/kg B.W.) separately. Liver and kidney function tests, lipid profiles, serum glucose, insulin, and leptin were determined. Quantitative RT‐PCR analysis of PPAR‐γ, iNOS, HMG‐CoA reductase, and GLUT‐4 genes was carried out. Caspase 3 was estimated in liver and kidney tissues immunohistochemically. Liver and kidney tissues were examined histologically. The administration of Z. officinale extract plus simvastatin to high‐fat diet‐fed rats caused a significant reduction in the expression of HMG‐coA reductase and iNOS by 41.81% and 88.05%, respectively, compared to highfat diet (HFD)‐fed rats that received simvastatin only. Otherwise, a significant increase was noticed in the expression of PPAR‐γ and GLUT‐4 by 33.3% and 138.81%, respectively, compared to those that received simvastatin only. Immunohistochemistry emphasized that a combination of Z. officinale extract plus simvastatin significantly suppressed caspase 3 in the hepatic tissue of high‐fat diet‐fed rats. Moreover, the best results of lipid profile indices and hormonal indicators were obtained when rats received Z. officinale extract plus simvastatin. Z. officinale extract enhanced the efficiency of simvastatin as a hypolipidemic drug in obese rats due to the high contents of flavonoid and phenolic ingredients.
