The assessment of electromagnetic field radiation exposure for mobile phone users

Abstract: Electromagnetic field radiation depends on mobile phone power class and factors, like urban or rural area, outdoor or indoor, moving or motionless position, and the distance of the mobile phone from the phone user. It is recommended to keep a mobile phone in the safe distance of 10, 20 or 30 cm from the body (especially head) during the calls.

“…Data about this subject is also inconsistent. Some studies recommend to keep the mobile phones more than 10 cm from the body during calls (Buckus R, Strukcinskiene B et al 2014) as most public exposure to EM radiations comes from mobiles and wireless portable devices (Gajšek P, Ravazzani P et al 2015).…”

“…Moreover, [22,23] addressed non-realistic scenarios without any car drivers or passengers. We found only one study [24] that provided measurement results of E-fields from real mobile phones during an ongoing call (GSM mode) inside a car cabin. We could not find studies on the evaluation of EMFs from mobile phones providing LTE or 5G wireless connections in a vehicle cabin.…”
