“…Laparoscopic fundoplication and magnetic LES augmentation procedures are well-established, reliable options for the surgical management of GERD that work by reinforcing the LES to prevent reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. In contrast to the predictable symptomatic improvements noted in the treatment of GERD, research on the efficacy of anti-reflux surgery in the treatment of LPR is mixed, with various studies showing resolution of symptoms ranging from 63% to 85% of patients [64][65][66]. Proposed reasons for this variation range from differences in surgical technique to differences in patient selection criteria.…”

“…Autoimmune thyroid disease was the most prevalent organ-specific autoimmune disorder in cases with idiopathic chronic cough. [20][21][22][23][24] The women, who were affected with autoimmune disease (like diabetes mellitus), are at a risk of being affected by the thyroid disease. 25 The treatment and the diagnosis will be based on the specific type of thyroid disease.…”

“…GERD symptom response rates for anti-reflux surgery varies based on 1) evidence for GERD, such as ambulatory pH monitoring metrics, PPI response and GERD phenotypes, and 2) the particular symptom [3]. while laproscopic fundoplication (LF) can control typical symptoms in about 90% of patients [813], the resolution of chronic cough is less predictive (about 51–96%) [9, 10, 14, 15]. Impedance-pH monitoring is widely used in the diagnosis of GERD, and its ability to simultaneously record symptoms allows evaluation of reflux-symptom correlation [16].…”
