Isotretinoin Linear lichenoid eruption: case reportA 20-year-old man developed a linear lichenoid eruption following treatment with isotretinoin for acne. The man presented with a hyperpigmented, scaly, papular eruption located unilaterally on his trunk, following the lines of Blaschko; the eruption developed 1 month after initiating oral isotretinoin for acne [dosage not stated]. Punch biopsy was performed; histology revealed a 'burnt-out' lichenoid dermatosis with melanin pigment incontinence; several foci of lichenoid inflammation were observed with a single thick collection of lymphocytes infiltrating the eccrine gland. Several focal, inflammatory cell, collections in neighbouring claw-like rete ridges were apparent.Isotretinoin was withdrawn, and steroids were initiated. The man's eruption regressed after 1 month; he was diagnosed with linear lichenoid eruption secondary to isotretinoin.Author comment: "We diagnosed this as a linear lichenoid drug eruption secondary to isotretinoin."
