Pure natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) involving peroral endoscopic salpingo‐oophorectomy (POESY)

Abstract: The present case demonstrates the feasibility of transgastric access. The gastroscope provided excellent optical control and good tissue preparation. Therefore, we expect an increasing role of transgastric procedures for diseases in the pelvic region, particularly if new endoscopic platforms with better means of instrumentation and tissue management become available.

“…Although our study focused on an innovative method, we try to strip the fallopian tube mucosa absolutely out of the whole fallopian tube tissue and then have a digestion of the stripped fallopian tube mucosa to isolate the MSCs, and we suggest that this cell source is suitable for regenerative medicine and has a broader application than hFTMSCs. Fallopian tube mucosa can be obtained by the salpingo-scope, which is a less invasive procedure than tubal resection [ 23 ]. The vaginal route is the least invasive and most economical route and should be the first choice to obtain the hFMMSCs.…”

“…Recently, transvaginal NOTES has been performed in cholecystectomy, appendectomy, 4 5 nephrectomy, 6 and gynecologic diseases. NOTES can be performed via a variety of approaches, including that through the stomach, 7 8 9 but the majority of NOTES procedures have been performed transvaginally. The vagina can be easily decontaminated, and it provides direct access.…”
