This typology comprises, within the variant of 'intracompositional intermediality', the subforms 'plurimediality' as well as 'intermedial reference' through 'thematization' and 'imitation' of other media (with imitation again being subdivided into 'evocation', 'formal imita… Show more

“…Regarding the methodological design of this exploration, it should be clear that the present study belongs to the fields of comparative literature and intermediality, although the quantitative analysis that was carried out certainly represents a special case of interdisciplinary research between the areas of literary studies and musicology. In any case, in the present paper I will not discuss concepts or details of the theory and typology of musico-literary relations, such as those developed, for example, by Scher (1968Scher ( , 1970Scher ( , 1984, Wolf (1999Wolf ( , 2015, Rajewsky (2002), and Schmidt (2018). While it is true that "literature in music", "music and literature", and "music in literature" (Scher 1968(Scher , 1970(Scher , 1984, as well as "extracompositional intermediality" and "intracompositional intermediality" (Wolf 1999(Wolf , 2015, for instance, are helpful concepts and categories when it comes to an in-depth analysis of specific musical works, they are not as essential for an article consisting of a catalogue and its corresponding overview and quantitative analysis.…”
