Trabecular titanium can inducein vitroosteogenic differentiation of human adipose derived stem cells without osteogenic factors

Abstract: Trabecular Titanium (TT) is an innovative highly porous structure that imitates the morphology of trabecular bone with good mechanical properties. Adipose-derived stem cells are a multipotent cell population that can be used in regenerative medicine, in particular, for bone therapeutic applications. The ability of TT to induce the osteogenic differentiation of human adipose derived stem cells (hASCs) in the absence of osteogenic factors was evaluated using molecular biological, biochemical, and immunohistochem… Show more

“…Titanium alloys have been successfully used for decades for orthopaedic and dental prostheses. TT is a specific hexagonal space porous material with high osteoinductive and osteoconductive properties and biocompatibility that lead to rapid and extensive bone ingrowth into the material [8,9]. Special attributes of TT-its porosity, high friction coefficient, tensile strength and high corrosion resistance-are extraordinary material characteristics that enable the use of TT in situations where bone defects in weight-bearing skeletal parts are required.…”

“…Studies performed in-vitro (outside of the organism) show that this structure promotes osseointegration [4]. It has been reported that the integration of a trabecular implant and vascularization can occur as fast as in two weeks [5].…”

“…Porowaty tytan -trabecular titanium -charakteryzuje porowatość ułatwiająca tworzenie naczyń krwionośnych w nowo powstającej tkance kostnej. W badaniach in vitro wykazano stymulujące osteointegrację działanie tego materiału [12]. Rów -nież in vivo u ludzi wykazano integrację z tkanką kostną i wnikanie naczyń już po dwóch tygodniach od zaimplantowania [13] oraz szybkie przerastanie tkanką gospodarza [14].…”

“…Trabecular titanium is porous, which facilitates the formation of blood vessels in the newly formed bone tissue. In vitro studies have shown that this material stimulates osteointegration [12]. Si milarly, in vivo studies with human subjects have demonstrated integration of titanium with the bone tissue and vascularisation as soon as two weeks after the surgery [13] and early ingrowth of the host tissue [14].…”
