Cytological Evaluation and REBA HPV-ID HPV Testing of Newly Developed Liquid-Based Cytology, EASYPREP: Comparison with SurePath

Abstract: BackgroundThe objective of this study was to evaluate a newly-developed EASYPREP liquid-based cytology method in cervicovaginal specimens and compare it with SurePath.MethodsCervicovaginal specimens were prospectively collected from 1,000 patients with EASYPREP and SurePath. The specimens were first collected by brushing for SurePath and second for EASYPREP. The specimens of both methods were diagnosed according to the Bethesda System. Additionally, we performed to REBA HPV-ID genotyping and sequencing analysi… Show more

“…SurePath V R (BD Diagnostics-TriPath Imaging, Burlington, NC, USA) (SP), an alternative FDA approved LBP, otherwise adopts a centrifugation method for cell enrichment in a manual process. 11 This system is innovative in that it is automated to avoid contamination during manual processes and to reduce labor time for batch sample preparation. 6,7 Over the last 25 years, the diagnostic utility of TP and SP has been validated in many studies using gynecologic samples.…”

“…After obtaining Internal Review Board approval with a waiver of informed consent, an institutional cytopathology database was searched to identify the cases interpreted as HGSIL on liquid‐based cytology test at the Department of Pathology, Medical Center of Eulji University from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2017. We reviewed a total of 22 selected cases of HGSIL diagnosed by density gradient‐based Easyprep liquid‐based cytological examination. The cytological diagnosis of HGSIL was confirmed by cervical biopsy or conization in all cases.…”
