Enhanced desulfurizing flotation of coal using sonoelectrochemical method

Abstract: Enhanced desulfurizing flotation of low sulfur coal was investigated using sonoelectrochemical method. The supporting electrolyte used in this process was sodium chloride and the additive was anhydrous ethanol. The effects of treatment conditions on desulfurization were studied by a single-factor method. The conditions include anhydrous ethanol concentration, sodium chloride concentration, sonoelectrolytic voltage, sonoelectrolytic temperature, sonoelectrolytic time and coal sample granulometry. The optimal ex… Show more

“…Zhang et al 25 reported the enhanced desulfurizing flotation of high sulfur coal by a sonoelectrochemical method. They found the optimal conditions (i.e., additive concentration, sonoelectrolytic time, current density, and ultrasound intensity) for the coal samples with different size fractions and reported a sulfur reduction of up to 75.4%.…”

“…Significantly, however, the effect of ultrasonic treatment on the removal efficiency did not continue for more than 3 min. Zhang et al [121] investigated the enhancement of desulfurizing flotation using the sonoelectrochemical method. The sulfur reduction reached up to 69.4%.…”

“…32 Ultrasound also has a positive effect on the flotation desulfurization of high sulfur coal. 33,34 In addition, ultrasonic treatment has provided good results for flotation and ash removal from oil shale. 35 As ultrasonic treatment has both oscillation and cavitation effects, surface cleaning and treatment can be achieved to pretreat the minerals.…”
